This is not an official State Of Alaska Web Site. It is an attempt to show what has happened at the Kenai Tanker Base and to provide relavant links. I am no longer a permanent State of Alaska employee, I will be working as a EFF this summer. As of May 1, 2008 the site is set up and ready to go. The State has contracts with Conair for 2 580's one in Palmer and one in Fairbanks. May 20,2008 the Homestead fire spread to about 300 acres. Both 580's flew on the fire with 14 loads of retardant being dropped. The fire was contained 3 days later and declared out within a week. After the intial flights on May 20 the weather changed and there have been no other flights. I will continue to try to show what has happened at the Tanker Base.
